                  Games has entertained us over the past years and it still does to this day. Recent games have been so competitive based that it is sports now, called ESPORTS. ESPORTS is an event which is held every year where expert gamers come together to battle out in games and get price money which can make up to half a million to one million US dollars. Games like DOTA, League of Legends, Counter-Strike Global Offensive and many more. In the gaming world you don’t have to be a ESPORTS gamer who competes with other gamers, you can be an expert gamer from the comfort of your home. There are many types of games out there, ranging from adventure to action to fantasies and good old PvP competitiveness. Let’s dive into 4 of the biggest genre of games and find out which suits you best. 

                  The adventure genre of games usually comes with a story driven which can be exciting, horrifying, fun, thrilling, action packed and many more. This story based games have characters which players can relate to. Famous fictional characters like Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Solid Snake, Geralt of Rivia and many more are remembered by many gamers around the world. Adventure games are also filled with puzzles, exploration, exciting or unexplained moments and usually has the best visual stunning graphics to really make the player feel immersed into the world of the game. Firewatch has been the best adventure and story based game of 2016 and has won a few awards including one from IGN. Other games like Dark Souls 3, DOOM, Battlefield 1, Uncharted 4, Inside, The Last Guardian, Watch Dogs 2 and many more has also been many gamers favourite in 2016. In 2017, not many adventure games were made by the big triple A developers but that doesn’t mean adventure games were not made in 2017. Some indie developers made some adventure games for gamers to enjoy and so far, it’s been doing well. In 2017, the action genre of gaming has been the focus.

   

      

                       The action genre are games which are packed with action and amazing badass moments to flavour the intense story line. In 2017, many triple A games has been action based with an action story line. Prey and For Honor has been the top dogs of action games in the beginning of the year. Prey is a sci-fi horror game which takes place in the future after an experiment goes wrong and you must fight your way out. For Honor in the other hand, takes place in the medieval period where different tribes fight for land and honour. Moving toward the end of 2017, gamers eagerly wait for the launch of Need for Speed Payback and Assassin’s Creed Origins. These games have made a comeback after last year’s recovery and gamers are excited to see what these two games must offer for the action game genre.

                   Horror is also one of the many popular genre in gaming and has made its mark through the years. Put together a story from the past and one from the present with a few horrifying character or enemies then you have an awesome horror game. This is exactly what Resident Evil 7 and Outlast 2 has done for this year. Resident Evil 7 and Outlast 2 has done extremely well and gamers are very happy to see these two horrifying titles to make a comeback and steal the spotlight. Gamers were so pleased with these two games that it had many positive reviews and ratings. Many gamers did not hesitate to pick up both games because each of them were unique in their own way. Resident Evil 7 is a game mixed with horror, intense moments and action. You play as Ethan Winters who embarks a journey to find his wife, Mia. He is then faced with the Baker Family who are infected has have their own strengths and weaknesses. Ethan must then find his wife who is also infected, find and make an antidote to cure her while facing each one of the Baker Family who are infected which is caused by Eveline, a ten-year old girl. The story pressures the player with intense moments with so little time to rest and relax. This game will constantly keep the player on edge because of the jump scares, unexplainable moments, eerie story which will send chills down the spine.

Moving on to Outlast 2, in Outlast 2 you play as Blake Langermann a journalist who works with his wife, Lynn. The story starts when they crash from a helicopter in the Supai region in Arizona. Blake then is left alone with no traces of his wife so he goes and finds her with only a camcorder by his side. He is then faced Sullivan Knoth and his followers in a village, who are wicked in their ways to give birth to Temple Gate. With nothing to protect players from the clutches of the enemies’ players are forces to hide and wait. While playing the game, Blake gets short memories from when he was little and explores a school were Blake and Lynn once studied. All of this is cause by the MK ultra-mind control program which is created by Murkoff corporation who are sending out radio waves which has brained washed the people in the village and made them go insane.

                     Finally, the racing based genre of games. In the world of racing games, there are specifically two popular type of racing games which is story driven and simulations. A story based racing game has more of an arcade feel in terms of handling. Usually the story is action packed and sometimes has similar plot lines to some of the Fast and the Furious movies. Need for Speed Payback is a great example of an arcade simulated racing game with a great story. Awaiting the launch of the game, gamers tell they get Fast and the Furious vibes whenever watching the trailer for the game. Other NFS games such as NFS Most Wanted 2005, NFS Carbon and Need for Speed 2015 are also great examples of arcade racing. The Crew which is developed by Ivory Tower has also been a great new game and new waters for player to race with all types of vehicles on different types of terrain instead of just racing with cars. On the simulation side of racing games however focus on realistic handling of cars. The game is usually track based and has handling similar to how a car would handle in real life. Grand Turismo, Forza Motorsport, Driveclub and Project Cars are examples of racing simulators equipped with its famous tracks around the world and varieties of cars to race. It caters for everyone, if you someone who is looking for fun but kept on the edge of the seat with a great story line then games like Need for Speed and The Crew is for you but if you like intense real life simulated racing then games like Grand Turismo and Forza Motorsport is the perfect match.

                        There are many more genres in the gaming world and all of them are unique in their own ways. It is important that you give the game a chance and try it out before judging it completely by reviews from experts. Games are developing better and better throughout the years and I am excited what the gaming world has for gamers in the future.
