The incident took place at 10:08 p.m. Sunday, an outdoor country music festival was hindered with gunfire. Police stated that the gunman fired at 22,000 people who were enjoying the concert from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

At that time, Jason Aldean a country music singer was performing when chaos structs. Witness Rachel de Kerf stated that the gunfire lasted from 10 to 15 minutes without stopping. Police said that Paddock the shooter was firing for nine to 11 minutes after the first 991 emergency call came in that day. Paddock also set up some cameras inside his hotel suite and hallway but police couldn't tell if the devices were transmitting. The authorities had identified the shooter as Stephen Paddock who is a 64-year-old from Mesquite, Nevada. He is a retired twice-divorced accountant with no children. Police confirmed that Paddock was alive when they made the first contact with him outside his hotel suite. Police retreated after receiving gunfire from Paddock and waited for the SWAT team to arrive. In the gunfire, a security guard was shot in the leg. When the SWAT team arrived, they breached into the room and found Paddock dead. Authorities believe that Paddock killed himself when they had arrived.
Police confirmed that Stephen Paddock has acted alone and has no connection with international terrorist groups. They could not determine Paddock's motive on that day.

All things considered, they are not calling the shooting psychological warfare - an assault on regular people to threaten or force society for political purposes. In Paddock's hotel room, police found twenty-three weapons, including assault rifles equipped with scopes, explosives and a few thousand rounds of ammunition. Authorities also found several pounds of ammonium nitrate which were the material to make explosives were found in Paddock's car. In addition to that, police also found 19 more firearms, as well as explosives and ammunition and some electronic device at Paddock's home at Mesquite, Nevada. Up until this point, police trust the guns were bought lawfully. The doubt, in view of beginning reports, is that no less than one of the rifles utilized was modified with a specific end goal to work as a programmed weapon, said the authority. Police also confirmed that Paddock had been in Mandalay Bay hotel since September 28. Hotel employees who had been in his room did not notice anything suspicious according to Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo.

Paddock's was a retired accountant but besides that, he was a real estate investor who had owned apartments and houses. Several properties are being searched in the Reno area to find anything associated to Paddock. Stephen Paddock was a graduate of the California State University, Northridge in 1977 with a degree in business administration. Paddock then lived in Melbourne, Florida for a short period of time before moving to Nevada in 2016 with his brother, Eric Paddock. Stephen Paddock had lived in Mesquite, Nevada with Marilou Danley who was his girlfriend. She was out of the country during the shooting took place and police believed she had no connection in Paddock's barbaric act. Stephen Paddock's brother, Eric Paddock told CNN that he last spoke with him when Stephen texted him about the condition of their mother when she lost power during the Irma hurricane which hit Florida not long ago. Eric also added that Stephen had never shown any violence and had no affiliation with any terror or hate groups. Even Eric was baffled why his brother would pull such an act like this. Diving deeper into the Paddock's family, we can find that Stephen Paddock's father was one of the most wanted criminals on the most wanted list from June 10, 1969, until May 5, 1977. He died a few years later when he was arrested in Oregon in1978.
